First Snow

“Thank goodness for the first snow, it was a reminder–no matter how old you became and how much you’d seen, things could still be new if you were willing to believe they still mattered.”
― Candace Bushnell

There did not seem to be the usual hype for the first snow of the year in our area of the country.  It seemed to sneak in silently.  I’ll bet there was even some bread and milk left on the shelves as it arrived.

This morning, my husband and I loaded up the car and headed to the snow.  We decided that

Asheville, North Carolina would be our best bet for seeing a good amount of snowfall while remaining safe since we would use main highways in order to get there.

About halfway to Asheville, the snow began to greet us along the way.  It was gorgeous.

When I saw orchards, not far from the highway, we took a quick detour to investigate.

Apple Trees

It wasn’t until we arrived home that I found that there were still apples on these trees.

From the orchards, we headed to the Biltmore Estate.  We figured there would be wonderful things to see while there.

Our dog, Maui, absolutely loves the snow and enjoyed chasing snowballs.

Chasing Snowballs

Many had been enjoying the abundance of snow on the property.

After Maui had plenty of exercise, we made our way towards the house.  The tree in front of the house is lovely.

Christmas Tree

Without people in the picture of the tree, you have no idea the enormous size of the tree.  This second image, which includes Randy and Maui, will give you more of a sense of how large this beauty really is.

Behind the house, we were able to find some pleasing snowy scenes.

Fall Meets Winter
Shadows

On our way back to the car, we noticed the wonderful reflections of the tree.

Reflections

We headed back home after eating a late lunch/early dinner.  We wanted to get on the road before things began refreezing on the roads.

What a wonderful time we had enjoying this year’s first snow.  We look forward seeing the sights the next snow has to offer!
