Leaf Litter

“Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.”
― Emily Bronte

So many times I feel the need to drive for hours to get to a perfect location for making photographs.  Saturday I took a look closer to home for fall images.

I went to a spot in Charlotte

The Wonders of Water

The Wonders of Water

“Dripping water hollows out stone, not through force but through persistence.”
― Ovid

When searching for a quote for this blog post, I came across the one above.  I loved that it included the word persistence.  Persistence is a word that I would use to describe my

My First Look At Fall 2019

My First Look At Fall 2019

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
― L. M. Montgomery

One of the things I enjoy most about October is spending time looking at the changing colors of the leaves.  I try to visit different elevations each weekend so I can make the most of what each

Fall and Water

Fall and Water

“What keeps my heart awake is colorful silence.”
― Claude Monet

This past weekend was the weekend that I finally saw the types of colors that I had been seeking and always associate with fall.  Although on land, things looked vibrant, all really came to life as soon as I made my way to

Finally Finding Fall Color in 2018

Finally Finding Fall Color in 2018

“You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So… get on your way!”
― Dr. Seuss

I was really afraid that this would be the year that I would miss seeing the really vibrant fall colors that bring my heart such joy.  Lack of color and muted colors have been all that I had been able to find this autumn.  That all changed

Chasing Fall Color in 2018

Chasing Fall Color in 2018

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”
― John Muir

Typically, by the end of October, I have spent several weekends “chasing” and photographing fall colors.  I spend each weekend going to the place that has the most abundant colors.  This typically

Week Twenty Composite: Fall Color

Week Twenty Composite: Fall Color

“Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere.”
― Albert Einstein

Usually, I spend October chasing the changing colors of leaves with my camera.  This October has been unlike other Octobers since I began photographing.  I have found that while I wait for the leaves to begin their final spectacular display, I have directed my energy into further exploration with composites.

When I began this project of posting 52 composites in a year,

Fall is Coming!

Fall is Coming!

“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Although it is not yet autumn, there were signs of the coming season everywhere this past weekend in the North Carolina mountains.  The temperatures were shifting from one season to another.  Sweaters and jackets that had been packed away and forgotten were suddenly a necessity.

My husband, Randy, and I were on our way to an event in

Gibbs Garden in Fall

Gibbs Garden in Fall

“That point in time just as the last leaf is about to drop, as the remaining petal is about to fall; that moment captures everything beautiful and sorrowful about life. Mono no aware, the Japanese call it.”
― Tan Twan Eng, The Garden of Evening Mists

Last weekend I visited Gibbs Garden for my third visit.  Gibbs Garden is located in Ball Ground, GA.  The founder of Gibbs Garden, Jim Gibbs, began creating
