I just returned from one of my favorite weekend photography events. I have attended Grandfather Mountain Nature Photography Weekend each year with the exception of one since I began this wonderful journey of nature photography. This event takes place in late May or early June each year.
The weekend consists of presentations from talented and gifted nature photographers, opportunities to photograph with old friends and new friends, and participation in a fun contest that showcases the images created on the mountain during the weekend.
The speakers for this year’s event were
Tony Sweet, Terry Barnes, Colin Knight, Tommy White, and Stephen Fletcher. Participants learned so much from these very talented photographers through their presentations.
While not attending presentations, photographers were enjoying photographing Grandfather Mountain. There are so many wonderful subjects to photograph on the mountain. Many were photographing to prepare three images to submit for the contest.
There are categories for the contest. Those submitting images can choose from the following categories: scenic, animals in nature, animals in habitat, and wildflowers.
The last portion of the weekend is the reveal for the contest winners. It is always amazing to see what other photographers see and capture on the mountain during nature photography weekend. Congratulations to all of the contest winners this year!
If you have never attended Grandfather Mountain Nature Photography Weekend, I hope you will look into attending next year. If you have attended, I hope I will see you next year at this time to share this wonderful event for nature photographers!
