Week Twenty Composite: Fall Color

“Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere.”
― Albert Einstein

Usually, I spend October chasing the changing colors of leaves with my camera.  This October has been unlike other Octobers since I began photographing.  I have found that while I wait for the leaves to begin their final spectacular display, I have directed my energy into further exploration with composites.

When I began this project of posting 52 composites in a year, I thought I would be able to create one composite each week.  I have discovered that creating composites works best for me if I do not put a time frame on them.  I will still post 52 composites to complete my project, but they will be posted when it is the right time.

I have lately enjoyed creating seven composites for the scavenger hunt that I have been participating in for the past few years.  These seven composites I will post on my blog after the reveals for the scavenger hunt take place in November.

I find that each composite I create helps me learn new skills using postprocessing.  These skills not only help me to explore using my imagination but also help me process my regular photographic images more creatively.

I am also finding that I personally get more satisfaction from creating something from many images than I do with one.  It is just the place where I currently am on my journey.

Fall Color

This past weekend, my husband, Randy and I traveled to Virginia to spend the weekend away to celebrate his birthday.  I was disappointed to see that even as far north as Virginia, there were very few leaves showing any changes.  Rather than just being dismayed by the unseasonably green trees, I took pieces of images that I was able to capture during the weekend and put them together to create my own fall color.

My ten-year long journey with photography has brought me such joy.  I am thrilled to continue down my personal path to see where things lead.

Enjoy your journey and where it leads you!
