Meet Me at the Rocket

“Cotton candy is a bouquet of color to the eyes, a sweet aroma to the nose, and a delightful pleasure to the palate”.”
― Reed Abbitt Moore

One of the things I missed most last fall was going to the fair.  Nothing else matches the sounds, sights, and aromas of the fair.

Last year, the South Carolina State Fair was a drive-through event that allowed people to still enjoy all of their favorite fair foods.  This year the fair was the full fair experience once again.

Photographing the fair was a bit different this year for me from previous years.  Rather than focusing on the fair in the evening, as I typically do, I chose to challenge myself with finding compositions during the daytime.

Another change was in the amount of gear that I took.  In past years, I took my camera, tripod, and as many lenses as I could fit into a leather bag since backpacks were not allowed.  This year, only see-through bags and extremely small bags were permissible.  I decided to go without a tripod and use only one lens.  This decision certainly made me less tired from lugging around so much gear.  My lens of choice was my 105 mm, one of my favorite lenses.

Here are some of the sights I was able to experience at the fair.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time photographing at the fair.  I look forward to going again next fall to see what I can see.  Perhaps you will meet me at the rocket next year!
